Coaching

There is more to fishing than getting the fish on the bank – if that was the case the sport would be called ‘catching’.

Visualising the underwater picture, knowing the habits of your species, working with the seasons and matching the tackle to the species and size of your target are just a few of the considerations.

Our qualified coach will guide you through all aspects of the countries biggest participation sport. Not only will you gain the knowledge to fish safely and happily you will also start on the road to a life long obsession.

I’ve been coaching for 9years, with the Environment Agency, Chorley Borough Council in the local area. Also with The National Trust at Brockholes, Preston and with the Local kids and Scouts in Whittle-le-Woods.

  • Level 2 Angling Coach (CRB & fully insured)
  • Licensed with the Angling Trust & P.A.A
  • Tuition for beginners to improvers in coarse fishing
  • Individual / group/ parent & child sessions available
  • Tackle provided if required.

About me

Hi, my name is Ian Curwen, I have enjoyed fishing for 30 years and I expect to continue fishing – and learning – for many years to come.

I have always lived close to Low Mill and fished here as a youngster. I am very proud to say that the place of my miss spent youth is now where I make my living. I run the tackle shop and  coach anglers of all ages and experience at three venues in Whittle-le-Woods, Lancashire.

Even the most experienced of us will be tricked by a slippery tench or find that we have been fishing with no bait on the hook for fifteen minutes – that’s roach for you. Let me help you beat the venue and land that fish.
